The Different Types Of Horse Fencing You Can Purchase
When it comes to horse fencing, making your decision about which material you should opt for is not always going to be easy. There are a lot of things you have to take into consideration, not least the safety of your horses and the durability of the fence. After all, this isn’t going to be something you want to have to replace often, so the costs and long-term maintenance levels are important too.
Making the horse fencing purchase decision as simple as possible, lets take a look at what the different types are that you can buy
1. Wood
This is the traditional type of fence that people are used to seeing. Wooden fencing has been used for both horse fencing and garden fencing for a long time. People are often quick to choose wooden horse fencing, but its not actually the best choice. The number one concern is the fact it is bad for the environment. You are likely to find that a wooden fence has to be replaced quite often and this makes it more damaging to the environment.
2. Plastic
Plastic is a modern-day alternative to the traditional wooden horse fencing, and it is a great choice. When you opt for plastic horse fencing you know you’re getting something that not only looks great, but also helps the environment too. Let’s put it this way; if everyone swapped wood for plastic then the environment would be suffering much less. It is a good idea to try plastic horse fencing if you haven’t done so before, as you might be pleasantly surprised at just how good it is.
3. Barbed Wire
This is less common these days but it is still an option. Some would argue that barbed wire is bad simply for the horse’s sake, as the animals could hurt themselves on it. If you have young children around this area, you would have to make sure they did not touch the barbed wire themselves, so to be on the safe side you may want to avoid this option altogether.
You could always consider some of the other horse fencing options, like the electric fence, but in all honesty, it is the plastic fence which is the safest and most environmentally friendly option.
