Rare Albino Squirrel Spotted by Photographer in Ramsgate Park

AUTHOR Eric C Bartholomew has photographed lots of animals – elephants, tigers, wild boar – but none were as tricky to capture as Thanet's albino squirrel. The 67-year-old scribbler, of St Lawrence Chase, Ramsgate, spotted the white wonder in a park close to Ramsgate's Royal Esplanade on Monday, April 16. Wildlife experts estimate that the odds of a pure white squirrel being born are one in 100,000. Mr Bartholomew, a safari lover, chased the rare rodent around the park for 20 minutes before he got his shot at about 7am. He said: "I was in the right place at the...

Fearless Squirrels Invade Qns. Co-Op

They are marauding gangs of troublemakers who set fire to cars, cut electrical wires and cause power outages, evading capture by scaling walls and climbing trees. But while the Queens co-op residents being terrorized by the daredevil vandals say they know exactly who their tormentors are, they insist that they’re helpless in stopping the crime wave — because the suspects are sex-happy squirrels. “It’s like Occupy Wall Street here,” lamented Bob Friedrich, president of the under-siege co-op at Glen Oaks Village. “It’s gotten worse in the past six months. We’re getting calls that they are in people’s apartments.”

Ivan Drago Hates Socialism

Ivan Drago. He was the soulless, socialist automaton of our 80s imagination, threatening to smash America’s Apollo Creedian hubris under his monstrous fists. This week, the man who played perhaps the most iconic Communist character of 80s cinema (Sorry, moustachioed dudes of “Red Dawn”) reflected on why he left his home country for America in an interview with Adam Carolla. Swedish-born Dolph Lundgren, already a karate champion, came to America as an engineering student. Somewhere between MIT and martial-arts tournaments, he became a body guard for Grace Jones, was photographed by Andy Warhol, and got cast as a virtual unknown...

Guess Who's Getting Antsy About Santorum...

I had a feeling a year ago that Santorum would end up a real contender, and now Obama has unleashed the hounds on him. I'm not necessarily endorsing him. However, I can't help but admire a man left for dead politically 6 years ago, by both sides, rising to the precipice of front-runner status. Hit him with your best shot, Mr. President...

Republican challenger Rocky Raczkowski has the lead over first-term incumbent U.S. Rep.
